Sustainable Fan.

This project was an individual project, focusing heavily on the use of sustainability of chosen materials, whilst still producing an aesthetically pleasing design.

Mood Board.

Enabled brainstorming of the overall form that I wanted to explore. Colours, materials and overall forms were considered.

Rough Sketches.

Let-out pages where very early and initial thoughts for potential concepts were recorded.

Concept Ideation.

Concept sketches were generated and presented to the client to reach a verdict on which concept they wanted to go ahead with.

Concept Development.

Developments suggested by client and design decisions were considered and applied to enable CAD stages to begin.

Use of Keyshot VR.

This software helped me to visualise the overall scale of the refined design at both heights.

Useful skill: can create basic SolidWorks model and bring the file into the software to replicate the size and mimic user interaction.

Final Concept Design.

Final sustainable fan concept: pine timber for the legs, red oak for the structural feature and aluminium 332.0 for the fan head piece. All of these materials were meticulously selected through CES software and materials knowledge to identify the most sustainable solution as possible.
